In a world of negative news on a daily basis, it is refreshing to hear some good news from time to time. It helps us keep the faith.

Our grandson Dillon, despite having ADHD, graduated High School a few weeks ago with a 5.2 GPA. He will attend USF in the fall majoring in History and Archeology. His AP classes already give him a head start, as he needs no History basic classes. He is already ahead of himself. And he is eligible for $12,000 in scholarships plus a Bright Futures award.

But that’s not all. Back in April I had an “ah ha” moment. Our daughter’s husband’s brother is an internationally recognized Ph.D. archeologist. At the moment he was at Cambridge, in England, as a Fellow. I recalled that every summer he goes to Israel on an archeological dig.

So I reached out to him and asked if Dillon could go along? We just made the May 1 application deadline and Dillon is going as a volunteer assistant. He leaves for Israel June 24th and returns one month later to register for classes.he will blog his experience at I Dig It.

It is an opportunity of a lifetime and we sure hope he “digs” it. On weekends he will travel around to see the sights with some other participants and absorb Israel’s rich history of thousands of years.

We are very proud of him and his accomplishments to date and expect more from him as he goes on.

Now that is what I call a happy story!

Bye for Now,
