MY LOYAL FOLLOWING HAS BEEN CLAMORING

for words of wisdom, or, for that matter any words. I was in Las Vegas till this am when we returned on a red eye. And our eyes were very red!

We were there for me to speak at the OMG STUPID CANCER SUMMIT for those patients under 40 and their "heart and soul givers."

It was  a heart warming and heart wrenching experience. So many young people suffering so.

We made friends and I'd like to believe we made a difference. That is really all we can do. And, if you haven't donated to my Relay for Life Team it is not too late. So far we are just shy of $6k

NEED TO GET TO LIGHTER AND BRIGHTER SPACE

It is lovely that every nite my wife can skype with my beautiful miracle granddaughter, and read her Goodnight Moon. My roll is after "whispering" to say HUSH.

Interesting to me how children of that age enjoy repetition. Then again, perhaps that never completely goes away.

THOUGH

I am relieved that the perps are no longer a threat or danger, but I feel no consolation. In an eye for an eye there is no equity.

As information comes in, it makes even less sense than the hypotheses previously held. The "Brothers Karamazov," had every reason to love America, seemed to reflect that by their actions, and ultimately betrayed us in the most cowardly of ways. A boxer and a wrestler had neither character, nor courage! May they rot in fucking HELL! They had NO right and didn't deserve our support or shelter.

And what good does the memorial do growing bigger and bigger at the finish line, which has now become literal? Innocent people were finished there. The runner's glory became gory in a flash.

And let's not forget the Texans near Waco. They took an even larger hit and my paranoia can't help but wonder if that was an industrial accident or yet another form of April terrorism.

The old ditty was "April showers bring May flowers." It starts to seem that those flowers are going to the grave sites of innocents throughout the world.

When is enough is enough?

Prayers to the victims and their families of yet more  insanity. If you are listening God, we need you now more than ever. But I have come to realize you need us more than ever too.

I DO MY DARNDEST

to stay upbeat, positive, and optimistic and write about that in my blogs.

But when the world falls into the center of a deep, dark hole, such as occurred in Boston, I cannot find inspiring words when all covered with perspiring feelings.

I could not begin to imagine what it felt like to be a Newtown parent whose child was robbed of life by a lunatic in a micro second of time. And I am a pretty good imaginer. Nor can I imagine how a father feels having crossed the finish line triumphantly, only to lose a son, have a daughter lose a leg or perhaps two, and a wife with brain injuries, all in a micro second of time, that will forever stand still, for him and all of us.

Horrified, once again, I am. It, sad to say, is becoming a regular occurrence. What it shows is that gun control is only one small piece of the puzzle. Human control seems totally out of control and I'm not sure we can do much about that!

ALL DAY

I have been thinking about the Boston Marathon turning into the Boston Massacre. And all day, I have written blogs in my head and serially rejected them.
Not that long ago I wrote about the increasing violence in my community, our country and the world. And it just keeps getting worse.
The story about the young boy who carried a peace sign last year, dying this year blew me away. OMG he was just there to hug his dad at the finish line and he was finished.
I just don't know what to say or think.
But next I see an unattended back pack, I do know who to call.
We live in a world that gets scarier by the day. Nothing is sacred or safe anymore. That which is iconic and that which is quintessential is now a TARGET!
God bless those who lost lives or were injured. God bless us all!

WHAT CAN I POSSIBLY SAY!

Boston, OMG, senseless seems to b the name of the game!

We live in  painfully crazy times and our challenge is to somehow remain sane.

SO I STARTED TO WRITE MY 'ONLY IN SOUTH FLORIDA' BLOG

I had a cop in my sights who sold dope on the side, and two teachers who seemed to be dopes, and more bad news than i would ever want to share and then I thought, "Why are you doing this?"

This blog is supposed to spread cheer and hope most of the time—not DOPE! And why exactly would you want to piss on your hometown? Really?

So I will only post a 'Only in South Florida' when it is good news.

Don't hold your breath, but we can pray!!

CONTRADICTORY WORDS

Any time things appear to be going better, you have overlooked something.

I'M STARTING A NEW SUBSECTION

It will be called "Only in South Florida." Since moving here in '73 I've noticed a tendency for things good, bad and worse to happen here. The sun doesn't always shine on us, but let me start with a positive story.

A 5 year old Oakland Park girl was walking on her window sill when she fell out of her bedroom window—from the 7th floor!! She is in intensive care, but she survived. Only in South Florida!

PSYCHOLOGY LOST A LEADER and A LEGEND LAST WEEK

Dr. Nate Azrin passed from cancer at 82.

He was one of the most cited psychologists in the world. Professor Emeritus at Nova Southeastern University (where my career began in 1973) he published more than 100 studies and received numerous awards and honors. He is credited with inventing "time outs." for kids, among so many other cognitive-behavioral tools.

He was married for 60 years, had four wonderful children,  and had a passion for dancing, when he wasn't being a powerfully influential psychologist.

The only thing that bothered me about the Sun Sentinel obit was that they referred to him as Mr. Azrin over and over. Folks, we Ph.D.s have earned our titles too, but rather than call me Mr. call me Bill, if you prefer.

Rest in peace DR. Azrin. You have done well—very well, and have left a legacy of which to be proud.

it's time to plant some seeds that will grow into giant beanstalks—sooner than later.

That is why i haven't posted much these days as I have been in addict writer mode..

Hope u r well and THIF. Though I don't know why I care cause everyday is a work day for me. The robot within lives.
