PRACTICAL WISDOM

Today I will do something different just for the heck of it. I will change something small in a healthy or different way just to experience and experiment with change.I will take a different route to work. I will buy coffee in a different place. I will change my usual dress code. I will brush my teeth before I check my email.

I am tired of being a creature of habit. I want to be a person of flexibility.

DID YOU EVER WONDER

what your life would be like if it wasn't what it is? It is an interesting, but irrelevant question. Reality needs to rule.

The more important question is "What can I be doing to enhance/improve/strengthen my present life? That has much more relevance and potential.

WORDS WORTH READING

An act of goodness is of itself an act of happiness. No reward coming after the event can compare with the sweet reward that went with it.

Maurice Maeyerlinck

I say it simpler. Fill your pride bank every day. That's it!

WORDS WORTH READING

The hardest thing in life is to know which bridge to cross and which to burn.

David Russell

Frankly, I am not a great believer in burning your bridges. Cross them all and cross some off, but never burn anything.Fire is much too hot to handle.

IMAGINE

John Lennon said it best in his magical song.

Even if your life is not exactly going as you would like, try to imagine a better situation in the not too distant future.Seeing can be believing and self-fulfilling prophecy can often make it happen.

Imagine that!

THERE IS A SIMPLE MORAL HERE THAT WORKS

My wife chains me to the couch so I will watch Idol with her. I'm just not a TV kind of guy. Thank goodness she agreed with America tonight so she quickly unlocked me to watch the Heat game. I don;t watch sports till the finale.

I was thinking that although Simon Scowl was mostly right in his assessments, his cold, cruel, critical feedback hurt. It reminded me of a parent who is abusive and damages fragile egos while teaching them right from wrong. At the end of the day it is wrong to teach right by might!

Idol is now a gentler, warmer, kinder show. The judges make their points when needed, but in a warmer, more encouraging way. Instead of stepping on these young flowers, they water and fertilize them, letting the sun shine in.

I believe this is a metaphor for life and our dealings with others. Be kind and gentle. Care. Give feedback softly and sensitively. And by all means, let the sun shine in.

A HAPPY

Passover and Easter to all. There are so many parallels between the two religions. How different is the last supper and the supper that celebrates the Jewish people's escape from slavery in Egypt? In both we eat heartily, drink some wine, say some prayers and enjoy the company of family and friends.

I think both holidays and celebrations speak to freedom, religious and otherwise. This is an important goal that is being sought and fought for all over the world. Heroic people in Africa and the Middle East are pursuing their freedom, democracy and a higher standard of living. Demagogues take most with little regard for their citizens who get the least. The people of countries as diverse as China, Venezuela, Libya and N. Korea struggle to right their imbalances.Between Mother Nature and Mother and Father Dictators we live in turbulent times.

Jews, all over the world, say,"Next year in Jerusalem," at their Seder.I say that as well as, "Next year in Democracy," for all who want that. It is about time that we all lived in peace and harmony, where people all over the world were treated fairly and allowed to have a chance to be free and not enslaved as the Jews were all those years ago.

ON HUGGING Part:I

I believe we should hug more and hurt less. I kinda think that hugs have gone the way of pay phone calls in too many cases. Why hug when you can facebook. Well, because all media interactions are cold and all human ones have the potential for warmth. A text or a tweet is not a face to face feeling of connection. It is a lame link on a cold day.

What are the barriers to hugging I wonder? I believe it is a lot about sexual issues. if men hug they feel a little weird, aka as homophobic. Women to women do it better, but there is often the pat, pat, pat on the back to neutralize the feeling tone. Man to women hugs have to be cautiously calculated, especially in a "harassment"oriented world. There is always the worry about too much of a hug being, well, much too much.

You know what I think. Hug the ones you love with enthusiasm and the rest with warm, but boundered restraint. But, hug someone everyday in some way and you will feel a lot better. If you have no one to hug then I suggest you find someone or do it mentally.Or hug yourself. Believe me when I say your arms will reach.

Reach out and hug someone with your arms or your words or your eyes. Or just embrace the world in a kind and loving way.Any which way you do it you will feel better when you do.

More tomorrow.

Huggingly yours,

Bill

YOUNG AND TALENTED WINS

I just watched the intro number on Idol.

I think they should just cancel the show and start their tour. Who really cares who wins, when they are all winners?

These are some of the hottest talent ever collected. It is nice to see such capable youngsters strut their stuff like old, experienced hands.

It is inspiring, motivating and exciting. I vote for them all. This is probably why Simon Scowl left. He had no one to dump on or rail at!
