A WALK IN THE PARK: PART IX

Sunday the games were over in the park by the time I walked. The red baseball team had beat the blue one. Both had hangers on talking, replaying the game, drinking water or a beer and socializing. The red team sat in the parking lot and the blue on the bleachers near the field. The comraderie of each group was what struck me.

The same was true of the basketball players. Yes, the explicatives were flying, but they were having post game fun talking about everything from pro basketball to their just finished game. The same was true over on the soccer fields. Though I didn't understand their banter in Portugese, I could sense their passion for the sport and for each other.

In all sports, there is a game and there is a team and there is a social network that at times seems more important than the other two. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts, as the Gestalt Psychologists, taught us long ago.

GO PEOPLE! YAY!

Bye For Now,
