THE DALAI LAMA ON HELPING OTHERS

If you are a doctor, don't look after your patients out of routine or obligation.

When we take care of others it is extremely important to cultivate an altruistic attitude. This benefits not only the person on the receiving end,but also the person who gives.

The more we are concerned about the happiness of others, the more we are building our own happiness at the same time.

Never consider yourself to be superior to those you are helping.

When you are helping someone, do not be content with solving their problems...Give them also the means to resolve their problems themselves.

I am pleased and proud to say that without having read these ideas before, my colleagues and I have always operated on these principles and that is why our help has been so effective.

Bye For Now,

Bill
